WHITEWATER RAFTING
Bingham, Maine
From the first hint of spring
through the lazy days of summer, Maine is an outdoor wonderland. You can
explore the coast, mountains, woods, rivers and lakes; Spot a majestic
moose while camping or hiking. Base Camp is located on the banks of the
lower Kennebec River. It includes over 60 acres of pristine land.
Kennebec River rafting is
famous for its remote wilderness, large roller coaster waves and
summer-long flows. The Kennebec cuts its way through a deep gorge in the
first four miles of advanced Class IV whitewater. As you exit the steep
gorge the river spreads out creating the opportunity for wildlife
viewing. It is not uncommon to see deer, river otters and eagles if you
are not too distracted by the whitewater. You may also find runs of
Atlantic Salmon and native Sea Lampreys.
SAMPLE ITINERARY
Day 1
7:00pm -
8:00pm – Drive up to base camp, about 4 hours from
Boston and 8 from NYC. Lodging is based on your level of roughing it.
Some opt for a cabin, others a platform and if bold, only a spot of land
for a tent.
8:00pm -
9:00pm – While waiting for everyone to arrive, take a
hike along the river and into the hills to see if you can spot and
befriend a moose. Head back to base to grab some food if hungry.
11:30pm -
2:00am – Once everyone is accounted for, belly up to the
bar and share a few drinks and catch up on old times and relive the same
stories you tell every time you all get together. Stay up beside the
fire, or crash early for a long day of whitewater tomorrow.

Falls.
