CATTLE WRANGLING

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs was founded with the intention of creating a high quality resort community, and was nicknamed, "Little London". America the Beautiful was actually written by a visiting English professor, while visiting the top of nearby Pikes Peak. That should cover you when you get home to tell the wife what you learned and experienced.

As for the ranch, it is nestled in a high mountain valley surrounded by pine and aspen forests. It is a working cattle ranch comprised of Long Horns and Herfords. During your stay you will step into the boots of a Cowboy and learn techniques for horsemanship, marksmanship, roping and cattle work. If you get the work done, there may be some time for a little R & R in the evenings.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1

2:00pm - 7:00pm – It is up to you whether you want the group to head right to the ranch when you arrive or spend the first night in Colorado Springs. Assuming you stay in the city on night one, you can take a shuttle from airport to Antler hotel and regroup in lobby to leave your mark on the city.

8:00pm - 10:00pm – Walk over to a local steakhouse downtown and enjoy your last meal before you will be required to catch and kill for a meal. Ok, that is not true. Throw some toasts out there to celebrate your buddies last days of freedom.

10:30pm - 11:30pm – After dinner start walking the streets, checking out a few of the watering holes Colorado Springs has to offer.

11:30pm - 2:00am – As the night winds down, head over to Jack Quinn’s Irish bar where they know how to partying early into the morning hours.

 Day 2

8:00am - 9:00am – Grab some breakfast at the hotel, you will need it, and we will transport you to the ranch just outside of town. Leave your stuff at the lodge, get your jeans on and get ready to work

10:00am - 4:00pm – Once you get familiar with your trusty steed, it is off into the pasture to learn the art of moving cattle. Bring the herd in, or at least try not to fall off your horse, then meet back at the ranch for lunch. After lunch we will see who the crack shot in the group is at the shooting range. Some of the ranch cowboys will educate you on roping and other cowboy skills, while they are not laughing at your city dweller antics.

4:00pm - 7:00pm – After a long day of ranch work, take a break on the porch and have a few drinks before your chuckwagon dinner. Break out the cowboy hats and brag to the others about how you were born to be a cowboy.

7:00pm - 9:00pm – After dinner, you can explore the ranch, maybe take a hike out to a remote spot where you can get up close and personal with the Milky Way. Don’t you wish you paid attention in Cosmology 101 so you had a clue what you were looking at.

 Day 3

10:00am – 11:00am – After breakfast, Meet the shuttle at the ranch and head back into Colorado Springs via the scenic route for your chosen methods of departure after a weekend to remember.
